Paralleled Mysteries 2: The Man Behind the Water

The river of Caspan held many Mysteries, some tied to the destiny of the looker, and sometimes a premonition or a little glimpse of the future.

Some days it showed the true nature of the person, a cold heart or a strong heart, a kind soul or a wicked one. But she did nothing but stare at the man staring at her in place of her reflection.

A ripple from nowhere made the entire river shiver, sending little waves of water till it reached the bank of the river, shaking her reflection, as it seemed, slightly. For a second she thought he blinked.

The river never spoke before, nor was it going to start now. A message was already passed. A warning? A sign? To the best of her knowledge a trick.

But she stood phased by the blury image of the impostor behind the water.

She attempted to move parts of her body in attempt to test the theory of a mirror. But the man remained in place, denying the echo of her movements.

Her little wish for answers was capsized by the abnormality of the river, another incompetence coronated from another deity.

Or was it? The man pointed once to her, then gestured her to follow and vanished, releasing her reflection from his bondage.
